The series follows the beginning of House Targaryen's demise, the events leading up to the Targaryen civil war, sometimes known as the "Dance of the Dragons," and the battle itself. It takes place two hundred years before the events of Game of Thrones.

In October 2019, House of the Dragon was given a straight-to-series order. Casting will start in July 2020, and in the UK, main photography will start in April 2021. The first episode of the series is set to air on August 21, 2022.Its first season will consist of ten episodes. The visual effects that make the world so engaging are taken and organized by VFX producers Steve Kullback and Joe Bauer, respectively. The VFX Method:-
